Lightning clearly is dominating the Boys Divisions of the U.S. Junior National Championships. On Wednesday, we captured our third  USJN Division Championship when our 12U team coached by Barry Milhaven emerged victorious by the score 56-52 . Tied at halftime of the championship game 30-30, the team went on a 16-4 run to start the second half but the struggle continued. Lightning led by only 3 with 2:00 minutes remaining but big rebounds and clutch shooting brought home the victory and championship. The team competed with only seven players and all put forth a tremendous effort. Congratulations to Coach Milhaven and players Ben Shur, Chance Ellis, Stephen Milhaven, Jack Burke,Tim Quashie, Jashanti Allen and Maurice Allen.

The New York Summer Classic is a one day mini-camp for players looking to showcase their basketball talents. This Division l NCAA certified event will allow players a chance to play in front of college coaches and editors of top scouting publications. It is operated by the highly respected Greg Kristof of Hoop Mountain Basketball.

STATUS REPORT AS OF JULY 1--- REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED AND WE ARE WORKING ON SCHEDULES. THE LEAGUE WILL BEGIN JULY 7TH.  CALLS WILL BE MADE TOMORROW NOTIFYING TEAMS OF THEIR FIRST GAME. FULL SCHEDULES WILL BE POSTED ON THIS SITE LATER THIS WEEK.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Hoop Dreams Adult Summer League will be held at the Island Garden. This very popular league began at St. Mary's High School where it was founded and operated by Tim Cluess. The league has been in existence for 11 years and is now under the direction of Karen Cluess and Jim Fox. Last summer, Hoop Dreams maintained its reputation for attracting NBA players and other highly talented athletes. The league attracted a large number of enthusiastic basketball fans last year on a nightly basis.

This league is certified by the NCAA.

THE BACK TO BASICS CAMP SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEKS OF JUNE 30 and JULY 7 HAS BEEN CANCELED DUE TO LOW REGISTRATION.

We are proud to announce a terrific schedule of summer camps for the 2008 season and  excited  to introduce several new programs and improvements. One such improvement will be the availability of transportation to and from the Island Garden. We also very pleased to have Tim Cluess, Bob Paul and Tim Capstraw returning as our Camp Directors.

Coaches agree that summer is a time for players to improve their individual skills. No matter what your age or current ability level, now is the time to "take your game to the next level" .

At Island Garden we can do just that! All you need is motivation and a willingness to learn.

> Attend a summer camp and work with Tim Cluess, Bob Paul and Tim Capstraw who are three of the most knowlegeable and successful coaches in the New York Metropolitan area. Our camps focus on only basketball and for six hours each day, the player will be taught by professionals who have dedicated their career to coaching.

> Play a 10 game schedule in the Lightning Summer League. This is our ninth year of providing top competition at all levels in one the finest basketball facilities in the country. We welcome both teams and individuals.

> Take individual lessons with one of our outstanding trainers who work one on one with the motivated athlete.
